NK’Mip Qwam Qwmt 2007 Syrah

The NK’Mip (pronounced in-ka-meep) winery is North America’s first Aboriginal owned and operated winery.  It is situated in the South Okanagan on a bench overlooking Osoyoos Lake.  The Qwam Qwmt 2007 Syrah has a deep rich colour.  It has a strong berry flavour with cracked pepper to add a spicy touch.  The long, supple finish […]

Santa Rita Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Smooth long finish on a well balanced full bodied wine.  The Santa Rita Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon will be a new ‘go to’ wine for me, an easy choice when I can’t make up my mind.   “Deep, ripe ruby red color with fine brilliance. Concentrated body, rich in ripe almost sweet tannins. Its […]

Graceland Shiraz 2006

The Graceland Shiraz is a big full bodied wine almost black in colour.  Black red mulberries are married with American oak giving a soft vanilla flavour to the palate.  Definitely a wine to be enjoyed now.  Yet another favourite of mine from South Africa.

Cathedral Cellar Triptych 2006

The Cathedral Cellar Triptych is a blend of Noble red varietals – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz.  It is full bodied with rich ripe fruit that is balanced with French oak.  The 2006 is a definite pick for me.  Not too fruity not too dry.  Full and complex.  Nick Lees of ‘Wine Picks’ (Sept 15) […]
