Stag’s Hollow Heritage Block 1 2006

Stag’s Hollow Heritage Block 1 is a Bordeaux-style blend.  It is full bodied, the colour is such a dark mahogany that it is almost black.  It has a well rounded full feel in the mouth.  The firm Cabernet grape is mellowed by the soft supple fruit of the Merlot grape.  I enjoyed the warmth of this wine.  Stag’s Hollow is a winery in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia.  This is another fine example of wines produced in Canada.

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Red – a french wine from the Cote du Rhone region.  It is described as bright and lively with great depth.  Luscious flavours with hints of thyme.
Domaine de Beaurenard Chateauneuf-du-pape
Domaine de Beaurenard Cotes  du Rhone

Stag’s Hollow Cabernet Sauvignon - another wine for our Canadian collection – this one is from the South Okanagan Valley.
Stag’s Hollow Heritage Block 1 - “Plum flavours carry through and combine with spicy French oak notes. Soft tannins and sweet red licorice lingers pleasantly on the finish.” – tasting notes from the website.
Blasted Church Merlot – There is an interesting story as to why this winery picked the name ‘Blasted Church’.  Check it out by clicking on the link and hitting ‘our name’ and then ‘the story’.  We already carry the Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend and so decided to add this one to the family.  Yet another wine from Canada.  The Merlot is described as: “Layers of raspberry, strawberry, damson plum followed by black cherry and a touch of mint. ” on the website.
Woody’s Refresher (Cream Soda) – remember the Saspirilla that tasted like Root Beer.  We currently can’t get it in as it is out of stock in the warehouse.  We keep trying.  Every week.  Anyway this cooler tastes like Cream Soda.
Coronita Fiesta Pack – the 207ml bottle of corona  in a 24 bottle pack.

Chapel Hill McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Australia produces some great wine and this is one of them.  The Chapel Hill McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 exudes warmth on the palate.  The acidity is nicely balanced to give a slight edge to the plum, liquorice, cherry and chestnut flavours.  The whole wine has a full round feeling in the mouth with a smoothness that lingers.  I enjoyed this wine and would definitely recommend it as a companion on a dark stormy night next to a roaring fire.
