week of June 18

This week we have a whole shwack of good stuff coming in, I mean, lip smacking…

Mill Street Brewery Summer Sampler Pack
Peroni in the 500 ml can – an Italian lager
Snow Queen Vodka won the Double Gold Medal in Best of Vodka category at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
Bacardi Anejo Rum – a blend of rums that have been aged for up to 6 years in oak barrels.  The aging lends smoothness and sweet notes of vanilla and caramel.
Rossi D’Asiago Mirtillo Blueberry Schnapps - made in Northern Italy – this liqueur follows an ancient recipe where only carefully selected blueberries and the finest aged grappa are used.

Now onto the wines….

1865 – a San Pedro winery single vineyard wine.  We have brought in both the Sauvignon Blanc and the Syrah.
Church & State Wines – Their website is under construction right now, but continue to check the CJ’s Blog – I have a very stong feeling I will be tasting these wines.  We have brought in the Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Merlot, Syrah and the Quintessential.   The Quintessential ia a mix of all five Bordeaux varieties.  It was tasted at the BC Icon’s tasting and received 91 points.  I’m very excited to try this one – we were only able to get 6 bottles in right now.  It is otherwise sold out from the winery.

Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
Kahlua French Vanilla Liqueur
Vincent Van Gogh Vodka
Glenlivet 21 year old scotch

mike’s hard lemonades

On June 30th, just before the looong weekend (cause everyone’s going to book off or be sick on Friday ;) ), we will be sampling Mike’s Hard Black Cherry Lemonade, Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade and the original Mike’s Hard Lemonade.  The tasting will occur from 4pm until 8pm.

Patron Margaritas

This tasting is all about the perfect Margarita – Patron style.  We will be making our margarita’s with Patron Silver Tequila and Citronage from 4 til 8pm on Friday June 25.

1865 Syrah

This new wine will be arriving on Friday June 18.  But I had an early tasting when the agent came through the other day.  Every job has its perks ;) :)

The 1865 Syrah is from the San Pedro vineyard & winery in Chile and is a full-bodied wine with soft tannins.  The 1865 Syrah was chosen Best In Show at the 7th Annual Wines of Chile Awards 2010.

This wine improves as it breathes.  Either decant or let it breathe in the glass for about 30 minutes.  If you’re like me and there is no way you’re going to wait 30 minutes after opening a bottle of wine then might I suggest using an aerator.

Grower’s Ciders

On Saturday June 19 from 3pm til 7pm there will be an in-store tasting at CJ’s.  We will be trying out 4 of the Grower’s Cider flavours.  The two newest flavours on the market:  Blueberry and Passion Fruit plus 2 more ciders.  Come on out.  It will be hot and sunny.  I firmly believe that it will be hot and sunny.

Cliff’s Picks

Ever wonder what the owner is drinking these days?  What are his favourites?  Ready?  Here they are:
Burrowing Owl – Meritage or Syrah
Michael David Earthquake Syrah
Captain’s Table Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon
Camus cognac
Rickard’s Taster pack (for a limited time it comes with a beer can chicken roaster – and Cliff seems to be collecting a lot of beer can roasters.  I wonder what I’m getting for Christmas this year?  hmmmm….)
